Oct, '20Hi! My name is Amber and I am a Team Member at Gravity in Lincoln! I recently finished my degree in Advertising and Marketing at the University of Lincoln in May and was lucky enough to join IconInc shortly after completing my studies. Gravity has only been open a short period of time, but already the tenants I have met are all so wonderful and kind. My colleagues are amazing too, I could not have asked for a better team to work with. The building we have the pleasure of working in is second-to-none, the facilities here at IconInc Gravity are nothing like what existed in Lincoln previously. I mean, who else has a slide?! It’s the start of another wonderful year in Lincoln, however as we all know, the vibe this year has slightly changed due to pesky Covid-19. That’s not to say that there isn’t still some great things to do in your local area! Let me take you through some of my favourite past-times as a student… Slide over to Daisy Made Farm Daisy Made is a short 10-minute drive away from the heart of Lincoln. With farm animals, crazy golf and ice cream galore, the site in Skellingthorpe allows for social distancing with its mix of inside and outside space. There’s no need to book, and you can get a taxi over there from right outside Gravity if you don’t drive! There’s a selection of trusted Taxi firms in your Welcome Booklet with numbers to call. (We rang Handsome Cabs and on a Saturday it would cost around £7.60 one way – split between a few of you that’s less than a cup of coffee!) Daisy Made Farm, Lincoln Rd, Skellingthorpe, Lincoln LN6 5SA Opening Hours: 10am – 6pm, 7 days a week 1, 2, 3, 4, so many Escape Rooms, who could want more? Do you fancy your hand at testing your skills and making the great escape from one of Lincoln’s not one, but four, escape rooms? Make your way through the magical Mystic Alley at Escape Lincoln or take part in the ultimate Bank Job at Deliverance. Whichever you choose to visit, you’re sure to have a cracking time with all venues rated over 4.7/5 stars on Google. I’d recommend booking online or ringing up before you go. Remember your group of 6! Escape Lincoln (2 sites) Site 1: Sessions House, Monks Rd, Lincoln LN2 5HQ Site 2: Vulcan Park, Unit 1 George St, Lincoln LN5 8LG Deliverance: Upper Offices, 2-4 Clasketgate, Lincoln LN2 1JS Enigma Live Escape Rooms: 35a Silver St, Lincoln LN2 1EW Tension Twisted Realities: 53 Croft St, Lincoln LN2 5AZ Gaming galore in store at Akedo! This one is for all the gamer’s in-house, Akedo is the place for you! With more consoles and games available than you could dream of, it’s only a stone’s throw away from Gravity’s front door! Consoles available: Playstation 4, Oculus VR, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, Nintendo 64, Playstation, Playstation 2, Gamecube, Xbox One, SNES. Akedo, 13 Corporation St, Lincoln LN2 1HL There’s green spaces on your doorstep We’re climbing into the cooler months quicker than I can write this blog! There’s some wonderful green spaces a short walk away that you can enjoy in all the seasons. West Common: From Gravity, head towards The Bowl Full Tapas Bar, 185 W Parade, Lincoln LN1 1QS. Turn right out of Gravity and then left at the top of the road. Follow the road straight down and you’ll reach West Common. There’s horses, a lot of leafy nature and also a pond! (The pond is slightly hidden – see if you can find it!). Time to walk: 14 minutes South Common: From Gravity, head towards Queens Park Community Hub, Lincoln LN5 8EW. Head out of our front doors and make your way to the high street, then go down past the train tracks and follow the road down until you reach South Common. Time to walk: 26 minutes We couldn’t forget food! You’ll find some great eats around the centre and further afield. These are some of my favourite places to visit: Rising Café, Alive, Newland, Lincoln LN1 1XD A wonderful café providing great food run by some lovely volunteers. What’s best, it’s right at the end of our road! Go and see it for yourself and find out their stories. Duke William, 40-44 Bailgate, Lincoln LN1 3AP The best place (in my opinion) for a roast dinner! Venture up the hill and take a look, maybe even visit the Cathedral whilst you’re there! (Psst – UoL students, if you take your student card, you gain free entry to the Cathedral! Thank me later ;) Café Shanti, 6 Clasketgate, Lincoln LN2 1JS A vegan paradise! Open currently for takeaway only, Café Shanti is Lincoln’s only fully Vegan restaurant. Cucumber and Mint Iced Tea? Yes please! China Hong, 5, Wigford Way, Lincoln LN1 1YX Said to be Lincoln’s most authentic Chinese restaurant, you can’t miss out on the beautiful food from China Hong. Available as eat in or takeaway. If you need any advice on things to do or places to go, you know where we all are. Just come and see us anytime on Reception. We all have a whole host of places to tell you about!
